Mission statement
Who we are.
The Studierendenwerk Thüringen promotes and supports the social, economic, health and cultural interests of students from ten universities in eight cities throughout Thuringia. As a non-profit public institution, it contributes significantly to an excellent study environment. Starting with the foundation of our predecessor institution "Jenaer Studentenhilfe e.V." in 1921, it can refer to a long tradition and extensive experience in social support of students. After the reunification of Germany, the Studentenwerk Thüringen was founded in 1990. Due to various restructuring measures, the Studentenwerk Thüringen was first divided into several Studentenwerke and then reunited into one organization. Since 2007 there has again been a Thuringia-wide Studierendenwerk and the long-standing employees have been able to gain a wide range of experience in various organizational structures and merger processes. Today, the services offered by the Studierendenwerk Thüringen include dining halls and cafeterias, housing, student finance, childcare, counselling, cultural and international affairs.
We are social.
It is very important to us that everyone can participate in the studies. This includes housing and food at socially acceptable prices, support in the financing of studies and the balance between studies and family. We offer counselling in various life situations with easy access and create living and meeting spaces. Our offers are equally accessible to all students.
Every employee contributes significantly to the implementation of our social mission. They can actively participate in shaping the Studierendenwerk and to contribute their ideas. Our cooperation is characterized by appreciation, openness, and tolerance. In addition, we offer family-friendly, social working conditions and pay in line with collective agreements.
We are modern.
Our offers are future-oriented in all fields, focused on the needs of the students. We benefit from modern facilities and a well-developed, digital communication structure. Service orientation, sustainability and ecological awareness determine our activities in equal measure, taking economic principles into account.
Qualified employees represent the most important resource of the Studierendenwerk. Therefore, we offer professional training and measures for personnel development as well as a company health management system for all employees. Every employee benefits from working conditions that meet the latest technical and health requirements. A transparent organizational structure and the consideration of mistakes as opportunities for better work characterize us. We attach considerable importance to openness, completeness, and comprehensibility in our internal and external communication structure.
We are divers.
The diversity of students and employees is both a challenge and a mission. We take the needs of each individual into account and are particularly committed to interculturality, accessibility and gender equality.
The students and the different needs of the various universities and their members in the eight cities are subject to constant change. Therefore, we are committed to regularly reviewing our actions and activities and adapting them as needed.
What is important for us.
Cooperation and open dialogue with student representatives, universities, local authorities, the Free State of Thuringia, and international cooperation are a valuable part of our activities. We maintain a particularly intensive cooperation and communication with the student representatives and universities for the benefit of the students.
The provision of our services at a high-quality level, tailored to the needs of the students and at reasonable prices, provides good study conditions for students. Our objective is to continue to offer students in Thuringia a comprehensive range of services and benefits from one source.
By providing the best possible conditions for studying, we contribute to the attractiveness of Thuringia's universities. We convince national and international prospective students to come to Thuringia by offering them a range of high-quality services.
We ask our students, employees, and partners to support us in the implementation process in order to achieve our main objectives.
