Information about the Deutschlandsemesterticket and Upgrade-Ticket
The Germany Semester Ticket is valid nationwide and allows you to travel throughout Germany on local public transport and regional rail services. Long-distance trains cannot be used with the Germany Semester Ticket. A separate ticket is required for this. The exception in Thuringia is the IC connection from Erfurt via Weimar and Jena to Gera. This can also be used in both directions between these cities with the Germany Semester Ticket.
Important information
- Refund of semester fee
Students who have used their Deutschlandsemesterticket are not entitled to a refund of the semester fee. - Changes to child transport
The Deutschlandsemesterticket is a personalised ticket. It is generally not possible to take children over the age of 6 free of charge on the Deutschlandsemesterticket. Children require their own ticket. On the VMT, children under the age of 8 will continue to travel free of charge until they start school (1st day of school) and must be accompanied by an adult. No separate Deutschlandticket is required for these children. - Bicycle transport
In Thuringia, bicycles can still be carried free of charge on local railway trains. Outside Thuringia, the regulations of the respective transport provider apply.
